Sable
1994-2012

Just 5 wks old, and he's little more than a handful of black fur.But what a change by 3 months! Bright-eyed and alert for the slightest possibility of mischief.

Finding a bit of sun & a comfy position, and then looking cute, seemed to come naturally. However, there are still things to learn even when you get to 2 years old - like convincing yourself that you're not stuck up this tree!

The garden remained a favourite haunt though. Here he is at nearly 5 years old, giving us a typical pose - sunning himself on the edge of the asparagus bed while fluffing out his wonderful tail - tickling his head with it was no problem at all!

Having finished his gardening he then jumps up on the garden wall to admire the view - well, to allow everyone to admire him, really!
Once back indoors he liked to see what was going on in the music room, but the sound of a violin string was enough to have him scampering for cover!

Any convenient box was a popular target - even though he doesn't look much like an apple.

Alternatively, a soft carpet in the sun will do just fine, thank you.And in the evening summer sun he could turn a distinct chocolate brown. Perching elegantly in the crook of a walnut tree is much more sensible than actually climbing it.

Very much the elder-statesman now, but still quite capable of prodigious leaps, Sable keeps an eye on proceedings from his favourite wall.Time catches up with him in the end though, and so "Now as a spirit I shall roam the summer fields. Farewell - I pass, as all things do, like dew on the grass".
